This Christmas, 313@somerset Embarks on Being the First to Offer 3D Virtual Reality Gaming to Singapore’s Retail Scene

Singapore, 9 December 2014 – This Christmas, 313@somerset takes shoppers on a magical journey filled with wonder and gifts in the Nutcracker’s World with Singapore’s first 3D Virtual Reality game. The story of this Virtual Reality game takes inspiration from the Nutcracker’s tale and takes off from a gaming booth, the EON Reality Icube MobileTM, set up within 313@somerset’s Atrium between 5 to 21 December.

Designed to look like a cozy winter cabin, shoppers who enter the EON Icube Mobile will be handed a pair of stereoscopic glasses and a specially designed remote controller that will help them navigate through the snowy slopes of winter land. With the Nutcracker as co-pilot, gamers are taken on a sleigh ride past temperate forests, snowcapped hills and winter cottages. Objects like candy canes and Christmas gifts then emerge from screen and flies towards the players, who can then grab these objects with their remote controlled Christmas wand.

Originally developed and marketed to commercial, edutainment and education sectors, the EON Icube Mobile at 313@somerset is putting the mall once again at the forefront of technology. It is the first installation in Singapore where an immersive 3D first-person-view game leveraging on Virtual and Augmented Reality is deployed large scale in a major retail mall.
