H2O Maghreb aims to improve the knowledge of local workers and pilot sustainable water practices for local and regional use

IRVINE, CA, July 28th, 2017 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), FESTO Didactic, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Morocco’s State Secretariat for Water and National Office for Water and Electricity (ONEE) established the H2O Maghreb Project to improve industrial and municipal water management practices in Morocco and the rest of the Maghreb region.

H2O Maghreb addresses the contributing factors to poor water management practices in the region such as lack of employment opportunities, lack of professionals skilled in the latest water management technologies and practices, and the lack of knowledge in the current workforce. This will be achieved through developing new curricula for water management related skills, including the latest innovations in the field such as Virtual Reality and Automaton Technology, and a demonstration and training hub at ONEE’s training center. This center will improve the skills of ten trainers and one hundred water professionals and students from Morocco in order to improve their employability.

As a pilot project, H2O Maghreb aims to promote sustainable water management practices and its replication in the other countries in the region to help solve regional water management challenges. This new public-private development partnership will be linked to UNIDO’s global knowledge sharing platform, the Learning and Knowledge Development Facility (LKDF).

“The work that we’re doing in the developing world to improve knowledge transfer is the most rewarding part of what we’re doing at EON Reality,” said Anna Lejerskar, EVP and President of EON Learn For Life. “Water is a precious resource globally, particularly in the more arid regions of the world, and is an important part of economic prosperity and quality of life. By improving the knowledge of water management professionals globally, we hope to improve the quality of life of millions of people and help communities around the world manage the effects of climate change on their water supplies.”

This project is an outgrowth from the work that EON Reality and FESTO Didactic have done on creating a Virtual Reality simulator for Aquatronics and EON Reality’s previous work with the LDK Facility to create an Augmented Reality application for heavy engine maintenance in Ethiopia. The project will be implemented over a period of two years with a budget of USD 2.7 million.
