Irvine, California – November 17, 2011 – EON Reality Inc., the world’s leading interactive 3D software provider, is pleased to announce that Ken Swain has been appointed their Business Development Director in the United Kingdom. Ken has 30+ years global experience in interactive 3D technologies, visual communications and creative services and will strengthen EON’s position in the UK market as well as providing a strategic role in development of future technologies.

Ken was born and educated in the UK, qualified as a Technical Illustrator and worked on defence, nuclear, medical and marine projects, creating complex 3D cutaway, and exploded illustrations. Ken moved to Western Australia where he worked with most of Australia’s top mining and engineering companies. His experience in Australia included manufacturing, industrial design, research and development – especially in surface mount electronics and multi-material injection moulding. He also introduced 3D CAD-CAM facilities and achieved an Australian Design award and a Japanese G-Mark design award.

Ken qualified as a full Member of the Design Institute of Australia, set up his own design and visualisation practice and invested in state-of-the-art Silicon Graphics workstation and 3D imaging software. The design and manufacturing communities were captivated by this new paradigm in visualisation and Ken was soon producing many winning designs especially for the electronics manufacturing industries. He also became a specialist in motion graphics, producing animations for television, video and film. Ken qualified as a professional instructor for Alias 3D applications and was a Visiting Lecturer at Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. He was also an advisor to the Australian Government for Design and Technology curriculum in schools and colleges.

Ken returned to the UK in 1995 and Alias|Wavefront approached him to help them develop their customer relations, training and consulting in 3D design and media software. As European Technical Manager, Ken was responsible for software, hardware, certification of training and professional services across many high-profile clients in film, media, automotive and product design sectors across Western Europe.

In 2002 Ken started Design Academy Ltd, a supplier of innovative 3D solutions to industry, government and education. He established the start-up’s progressive services and sales strategies, overseeing overall operations in the design and development of academic and corporate knowledge transfer, interactive visualisation and bespoke software offerings. Ken built up the presence of rendered and interactive 3D software programs in the UK and introduced interactive ‘virtual reality’ learning centres at several colleges and universities based on EON’s interactive 3D software and was recognized as the best performing EON Reality integrator in 2005.

Ken’s career has been as a specialist in creative services, interactive 3D technologies, imaging and visual communications. His expertise in building client relationships and consultative sales, combined with his substantial technical experience means that he is able to find the right solution for his clients. Ken understands the complexity of emerging trends and applies innovative divergent thinking to the challenges of today’s economic climate. He has managed international sales and content teams –  designed a new rotary wing ‘virtual’ training solution for military and civil sectors – spearheaded an interactive 3D curriculum initiative for new STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and pioneered the use of 3D data in HD videoconferencing.

“Having worked with EON products for many years, I am looking forward to building up the use of interactive 3D in the United Kingdom based around EON Reality’s exceptional technologies. Because of the growth of 3D technology in recent years, the time is right to build on the UK’s reputation for innovation and creativity – to bring together creative companies, 3D developers, integrators, education and government executives – to change the way we learn. We are going to change the education and industrial learning space – young learners will understand difficult concept, adults will absorb information faster – with the use of interactive 3D, communication and learning will just get better and better,” said Ken Swain.
