The partnership will establish an Interactive Digital Center located in Viborg further developing the EON-XR and digital infrastructure in Viborg and Central Jutland.

IRVINE, CA, December 21, 2017 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, together with VIA University College and Viborg Municipality, today announces the establishment of an Interactive Digital Center in Viborg, Denmark. The IDC will build on the local gaming and animation community that Viborg has cultivated and help position VIA University College and Viborg as a leading location for EON-XR development in Europe.

Viborg has a strong presence in the game development and animation fields with more than forty companies located in the old barracks area in the city. VIA’s animation education school, ‘The Animation Workshop’, is also located here to support these businesses. By drawing on this local talent pool, EON Reality can help accelerate the creation of EON-XR Knowledge Transfer content and applications for Viborg and the surrounding region.

“Viborg has an incredibly exciting business environment where they’ve built and encouraged a strong IT, game development, and animation presence,” said Mikael Jacobsson, Vice President, Business Development Europe and Africa for EON Reality. “EON Reality’s VR Innovation Academy is a nice compliment to VIA University College’s The Animation Workshop. This level of community and academic support is a key reason why Viborg was the obvious choice for our Danish operations. We’re looking forward to helping those in Viborg and the surrounding region learn faster, remember longer, and decide better with our EON-XR Platform.”

As a part of EON Reality’s entry into Central Jutland, VIA University College will host the IDC’s VR Innovation Academy where engineering students and animation students can specialize in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality development, coding, modeling, and animation. The students will gain access to the test facilities, which will be established as part of EON Reality’s IDC, and will learn from EON Reality’s expert AR and VR teachers. The course will open on February 2018.

“The close collaboration means that the students will have world-class skills when they finish their education. That is exactly what many Danish companies need to create growth and development,” says Konstantin Lassithiotakis, Executive Director of VIA School of Business, Technology & Creative Industries.

EON Reality joins Apple and other technology companies to join the digital ecosystem in Viborg. Viborg Municipality is working to attract more foreign investments and establish new educational course to support these businesses to the municipality. Central to this has been ‘Invest in Viborg’ which is a collaboration between local politicians and representatives from the business community in the municipality to help grow the local economy.

The Mayor of Viborg, Torsten Nielsen, is happy that the collaboration in Invest in Viborg is showing results: “We are pleased to have both EON Reality and the new educational offering in Viborg. It is a massive coup, and it fits nicely with our unique position within animation. Getting these agreements in place has been a long process, so it is really great that we have reached the goal with this venture,” he says.
