The Information Technology Authority (ITA) celebrated the first anniversary of Sas Centre for Virtual Reality and the second anniversary of the Sas Programme for Entrepreneurship.

The Sas Centre for Virtual Reality was launched in April 2014 and the Sas Programme for Entrepreneurship was launched in March 2013 in partnership with EON Reality. During the past two years, the Sas Programme for Entrepreneurship has incubated 19 SMEs, which has resulted in 65 job opportunities for Omanis.

The Sas Centre for Virtual Reality trained 320 Omanis in the past year, and of these 26 of them established their own companies after training. The training provided by the Sas Centre for Virtual Reality is related Autodesk, Adobe, augmented reality and virtual reality. On the other hand, the Sas for Entrepreneurship Centre provides training in specialised IT, Business Management and HR Management.

ITA is a public authority created by a Royal Decree 52/2006 and it endeavours to consolidate and implement the Digital Oman strategy to transform the Sultanate into a knowledge-based economy for the achievement of social and economic benefits to Omani society.
