Virtual and augmented reality specialist EON Reality has launched a free app that aims to help teachers and students learn with gamified interactive lessons. EON Experience EON-XR, an AR- and VR-based learning library, features 3D learning environments and objects with functions such as exploded views, grab, drag, drop, rotate and snap, as well as the ability to view annotations and other attached media. Subjects covered include anatomy, biology, geography, history, physics and astronomy.

A play mode consists of guided challenges and knowledge paths with continuous assessment (tests and quizzes). Users can learn by doing with identify, locate, build, disassemble and dissect capabilities.

The app is currently available for Android devices on the Google Play store, and is schedule to become available in the App (iOS) Store by the end of the month.

“It’s a gamified way for students to experience the subject matter,” said Mark Cheben, global marketing manager for EON Reality. “We’re taking the things teachers are trying to teach in the classroom and making the subject matter quicker [and] more accessible and offering an opportunity to have more fun in the classroom.”

A key feature is the EON EON-XR, a content creation tool which means that with no programming skills required, teachers, students and other users can add interactions and game-based lessons to EON Reality’s 3D library, which comprises more than 8,000 components.

“At their core, games are about problem solving,” said Mats Johansson, CEO of EON Reality. “EON Experience EON-XR captures learners’ attention in a similar way and awakens their curiosity for learning in the process.”
