EON Server
EON Server™ is a modular server based solution for distribution of EON 3D content over the web as well as managing large 3D product repositories. Two modules in this product suite EON Dynamic Load and EON Track are now available.
EON Server can be used on any type of web-server very similar to e.g. how regular html pages or gif files are served up. The difference with EON Server is that EON 3D content is served up rather than html pages.
Objects and/or components are streamed into the scene, allowing extremely small file-size and full interactivity from the first downloaded component. The parts can be launched automatically in three different ways using EON Server. One is through dynamic load, another is by triggering any of EON Studio's sensors within the 3D environment (such as a click sensor or a proximity sensor). A third alternative is actually to load the objects through an html page by clicking on a button, text or image link from a 2D catalog e.g.
The software application modules for EON Server include:
- EON Dynamic Load allows for dynamically loading and unloading of EON objects over the Internet into a 3D environment such as a showroom. The virtual products are located in a repository of objects on a web server allowing for easy access. An EON object can contain all aspects of EON features including 3D models, behavior, textures, interactivity, audio, video etc. Dynamic Load takes advantage of existing features within EON Studio that allows for compact file size and fast distribution. This approach allows end users to browse through a product catalog walking through the showroom getting detailed information about the products and actually see how the products work and interact with them. In addition, the initial download size/time is kept very small allowing users to start interacting instantaneously.
- EON Track is part of the EON Server solution and provides users the ability to track user interaction in an EON application and store the information in a database. The database can be accessed via a web interface in order to get up-to-date information anytime. Tracked events are set up using the GUI of EON Studio. Key benefits for EON Track are found within e.g. E-commerce applications where statistical marketing data is gathered for examination or within E-learning where critical learning data is logged for student evaluation purposes.
