What IS the IDC Consortium?
The global Interactive Digital Center (IDC) Consortium is dedicated to establishing a de facto standard for real-time visualization solutions worldwide for business and educational institutions. It is comprised of EON Reality, NVIDIA, Hewlett-Packard and Christie Digital, as the founding members of the consortium, with Microsoft serving as a technical provider.
The IDC consortium provides leadership in the development of sophisticated interactive 3D visualization in order to promote simulation based Economic and Workforce Development in a repeatable and cost effective manner. With over 50 percent of our brains being used for visual processing, it is not surprising that visualization is a very powerful way to convey complex information. Visual images in the form of Interactive and Collaborative 3D objects will overcome language barriers and the traditional process of communication to allow users to focus on the concept and not be dependent on grammar or ones ability to read and speak the language. 3D Reality Objects are a universal Knowledge transfer technology promoting self illuminating points of view, enhancing an overall grasp of a general situation. With 3D interactive environments you learn faster, retain longer and improve critical thinking for better decision making. The IDC Consortium partners with educational institutions for the development of IDCs – technology solutions that are combining easy to use software and hardware tools for creating interactive 3D rich content.
What IS an IDC?
An Interactive Digital Center (IDC) has multiple components, one being a physical visualization lab. Within the walls of this environment of innovation--industry, government, educators, and entrepreneurs manufacture ideas with capabilities to create interactive and immersive 3D objects that are also known an interchangeable data parts – new content for your learning environments. These interchangeable data parts or Reality Objects™ are placed in a syndicated library so that they are reusable and index able so that they will support everything from Just-In-Time learning for your learning environment to electronic performance support systems visualizing the supply chain and product lifecycle of your industry partners. From Rapid Prototyping, Procurement, Parts Catalogs, Marketing, Training, and Technical Manuals - an IDC will encompass and define the emerging model for regions to effectively compete globally with the much needed workforce and attract new corporate relationships.
