i3D Symposium

April 8 – 11, 2008
Florence, South Carolina

The high-tech IDC Consortium invites you to select a program on i3D (interactive 3D) visualization technology solutions – an opportunity you can’t afford to miss!

The three programs consist of:

  • A half-day executive briefing for college Presidents/CEOs/Chancellors (immediately following AACC in Philadelphia);
  • A half-day briefing for industry CEOs/COOs/CTOs/Salespersons; and
  • A two-day program for Educators.

See below for additional information.

The i3D Symposium, sponsored by multiple high-tech leaders, is the only opportunity of its kind in the United States.   An array of speakers from across the globe will present leading-edge developments in this technology that are truly exciting and stimulating.

The program is held at a remarkable and new, one-of-a-kind facility – the 3D/Virtual Reality Interactive Digital Center, located within the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT). You will observe the latest 3D interactive technologies in action and see how today’s learner can become immersed in the learning environment.  You will experience how this technology truly changes the way learning takes place!  You will also see various products brought to life visually and interactively!

The THREE separate programs planned for the i3D Symposium are:

For College Presidents, Chancellors, and Chief Academic Officers:  This 3 hour morning program on Wednesday, April 9th is devoted to assisting college leadership to move their organizations into incorporating 3D visualization technology solutions while creating self-sustaining learning environments.

  • Dynamic demonstrations will reveal how these technologies may be integrated throughout organizations to develop interactive 3D applications for education and educations’ industry partners.
  • The location of this symposium (at SiMT) provides a unique opportunity to see first-hand an innovative approach to leverage resources for learning and commerce.
  • A networking reception, dinner, and tour of SiMT are available for Executives who arrive on April 8th (after AACC Conference) before the next day’s briefing. This program concludes at noon on April 9th.
  • Registration is required and complimentary meals are provided.  (No registration fee.)

For Industry:  This 3 hour afternoon program on Wednesday, April 9th for Interactive Product Content Management (IPCM) is designed for industry  and focuses on the revolutionary impact of using “smart” digitized product content or product replicas and the resulting value for companies to interactively and visually configure, demonstrate, plan and support their products.

  • Experts will showcase the power and versatility of IPCM through life-like virtual presentations to improve sales, productivity, and existing business processes.
  • Immersive presentations allow the participant to see how 3D solutions immediately grab users’ attention, enhance communication, and accelerate learning and sales processes.
  • Participants will observe how 3D interactive simulations are used to create sales and marketing presentations, training applications and proof-of-concept virtual factories.
  • The program is a 3 hour event the afternoon of April 9th and tours of SiMT are available later that afternoon.
  • Registration is required and complimentary meals are provided.  (No registration fee.)

For Educators:  The two-day Educators’ Symposium on April 10-11, is designed for faculty, administrators, curriculum designers, media and technology specialists and educators of disciplines preparing tomorrow’s workforce from doctors and nurses to engineers, auto techs and graphic designers.

  • The program provides Educators an opportunity to hear from a global team of 3D/Virtual Reality leaders and experts.  Educators will learn how to integrate i3D technologies across the curriculum and employ successful strategies to create self-sustaining environments for the learner.
  • Educators will be exposed to the latest i3D solutions that provide a multi-modal approach to simulation-based learning (SBL) which improves knowledge transfer and retention as users view, touch, hear, interact with and sense reactions to digital objects in real-time.
  • The program is a two-day event beginning on April 10th and concluding on April 11th. A reception and networking opportunity is provided on the evening of April 9th.
  • Registration is required and complimentary meals are provided.  (Registration fee = $395, early bird registration = $295)

SYMPOSIUM LOCATION:

The i3D Symposium is in Florence, South Carolina at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT) on the grounds of the Florence-Darlington Technical College campus located at 2175 West Lucas Street.  The SiMT is a new state-of-the-art facility where interactive 3D technology solutions have been designed to provide a showcase of new 3D technologies, enhance content development for educators and industry partners for education/training and to provide industry with new ways for enhancing sales, marketing, maintenance, and operations.  A key focus of the SiMT is to help manufacturers be first-to-market with new products by providing rapid prototyping capabilities along with other means to cut costs, improve productivity and enhance profits.
